What colours to choose?
If you are looking for a picture for a particular setting have a think about the following:
- Pictures with more red oranges and yellows look warmer and welcoming and bring things closer
- More cool blues and violets blue can create a sense of distance and space.
- Colours that are next to each other in the colour wheel blend together well
- To get a pulsing effect and make the colours zing put direct opposites together.
- To break up a predominant colour in a room choose a small amount of its opposite or one from a very different part of the colour wheel.
Here are some colour palettes using a range of scarlet-ibis-art.co.uk designs. We can provide designs to match with any colourset and in a range of contemporary styles and looks.

How colour affects us
You only have to look at someone trying to buy a tie to see that we all have a sense of colour and design. Colours are all around us and we react to them, sometimes without realising. Consider the following
|
| Red is said to speed up the heart rate |
Yellow grabs our attention and green relaxes people. |
Pink has been found to be calming |
Tea from a blue cup feels cooler |
